Cyber crime is no longer a distant threat, it’s a daily reality affecting individuals, institutions, and even law enforcement agencies. I’m Anirban Mitra, a Certified Cyber Crime Criminologist, and my mission is to bring awareness and practical understanding of these threats to the people of West Bengal.
Over the past few years, I’ve witnessed how cyber threats have evolved from simple phishing attempts to sophisticated financial frauds, identity theft, and organized digital crimes. These incidents aren’t limited to big cities anymore; they’re happening in towns and rural areas too, often targeting people who aren’t aware of how cybercriminals operate.
Through my sessions and talks, I focus on breaking down complex cyber issues into real, relatable situations. I discuss how social engineering traps users, the rise of digital payment scams, the misuse of personal data, and how cyber laws in India are trying to keep up. My goal is not just to highlight problems but to equip people with the right knowledge and tools to stay secure online.
Cyber safety is not just a technical subject, it’s a social responsibility. As someone who has worked closely with law enforcement agencies, including the West Bengal Police and central authorities, I’ve seen how awareness and timely action can prevent major digital crimes.
West Bengal is rapidly going digital, and with that comes a growing need for digital vigilance. Through continued dialogue, training, and awareness programs, I aim to build a safer and more resilient cyber environment for everyone.
Cyber security begins with awareness, and awareness begins with conversation. Let’s keep that conversation going.
